Not only can Jon Yadon Jr. shred, the guy often does it with an infectious smile. If you’re not enjoying yourself while playing guitar, then are you really playing? This is one of the first things that drew me to Jon’s playing.
I first saw Jon Yadon Jr. on YouTube through the Sunday With Ola (SWOLA) phenomenon. Not only were his entries always of the highest quality, but they were delivered at a frequency that made me wonder how someone can put together such polished entries so quickly.
His videos are edited to perfection. His song writing ability is of the highest caliber. His energy is off the charts. He simply makes you want to play guitar.
What I mostly love though, is that his videos truly are inspiring. I’ll never play guitar at the same level as Jon Yadon Jr., but I feel like that is OK. There is no competitive vibe that comes from watching his videos. It’s simply unfiltered guitar enjoyment, and I’m all for that.
After all, it’s called playing guitar. It’s not called competing at guitar.
If there’s a guitarist in my list of inspiring guitarists and their guitar play through videos—not a good name for a playlist really—then Jon Yadon Jr. is one of the most deserving of a look if you’ve not heard of him before. He is not the most famous on my unofficial list, but his passion is obvious and I love that.
He takes me back to when I first saw Eddie Van Halen smiling in those early Van Halen videos. That kind of passion makes me love the guitar as much as I do.

Jon Yadon Jr. is also a Solar Guitars artists. As someone who has a couple of Solar guitars, I love that about him. I’m also jealous of the models he’s acquired and used in so many of his videos.
The guy is just awesome.
