There is so much to love about the way Yasi Hofer plays guitar. The funkiness of the song, the technical ability, and the gorgeous melodies are all highlights. But for me, the highlight is seeing the absolute joy that Yasi has while playing guitar.
If you’re not enjoying the guitar, then why bother playing it?
Yasi shows that you don’t need to see how many notes you can pack into a minute to prove that you’re skilled as a guitarist or song writer. Her technique and ability to create beautiful melodies are both indicators of her ability to not only understand the instrument, but to display when to let the music breathe.
I’ve mentioned Yasi’s technical ability a couple of times. I feel that it’s worth pointing out that this is not just my opinion. When you take some time to read her bio, you quickly discover that her skills have been recognised by Steve Vai. I’m fairly certain he is a trusted authority on a guitar player’s abilities.
