It’s been a long time since I added a guitar play through video to my guitar play through article series. I’ve still been watching them and loving them, I just haven’t posted about them. Sadly, recent events have reminded me of one of my favourite guitar play through videos—Above my Head by Polaris.
Ryan Siew from the band Polaris passed away on June 19, 2023 and this tragedy has resulted in many people—myself included—revisiting his mastery of the guitar in the Polaris catalogue. Luckily for us all, his contribution to music will live on in these recordings forever.
There are quite a few guitar play through videos that Polaris have shared on YouTube as well as an entire instrumental version of their album The Mortal Coil which is well worth a listen on your favourite streaming platform. My favourite guitar play through video from Polaris however is Above my Head. Ryan’s melodic lead lines are simply beautiful.
This track is an absolute delight for the eyes and ears. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
